Illustrative seaweed pillow concept.
Comfort has a petrochemical core.
Many pillows, mattresses and upholstered products rely on petrochemical foams and synthetic fillings. TELG is developing alternatives for comfort applications, bringing material performance, product design and commercial requirements together from the outset.

Material concept study for comfort applications.
Material and product development; pre-commercial.
Starting with seaweed. Proving it with a pillow.
A premium pillow is our first application: a focused way to assess a new material against the demands of a familiar comfort product. The programme brings material development, product testing and commercial validation together.
Objectives
Performance and repeatability
Assess how the material performs and whether results can be reproduced.
Objectives
Paid demand and unit economics
Test customer demand, pricing and the economics of the first product.
Objectives
A costed route to production
Establish the process, partners and costs required to manufacture.
Prove through products. Scale through material supply.
Production capability and rights remain part of the validation programme.
1 · First · Premium pillow
Build evidence on demand, performance and margins.
2 · Next · Furniture materials
Planned repeat foam and component sales through production partners.
3 · Beyond · Wider comfort applications
Expand after development and qualification.
Built to connect materials and markets.

September 2026 · Programme defined
First application selected: premium pillow.
Three evidence objectives established: performance, paid demand and a costed production route.
Next milestone: Complete technical assessment and define the product-development and production plan.

Better materials must work in the real world.
Natural is a starting point, not a performance claim. Materials still need to meet safety, durability, comfort, manufacturing and economic requirements. We consider the whole product system, including construction, repairability and end of life.
